Yesterday I had a wonderful meeting with one of my tutoring families, and I walked away reminded of how grateful I am for the amazing parents, guardians, and students I get to work with every day. Their dedication and enthusiasm make this work such a joy. 💛
During our conversation, we talked about simple, fun, and effective ways to build spelling skills at home. I thought I’d share a few of my favorite spelling games here—these are student-tested, engaging, and sneak in valuable practice through play!

🧩 Favorite Spelling Games
🟡 Kangaroo Cravings
A huge hit year after year! This game combines movement and spelling and includes multiple difficulty levels, making it an excellent fit for a range of learners.
🟣 Scrabble Slam
I love this one because it naturally sparks conversations about spelling, patterns, and strategies while kids play.
🟢 Bananagrams Duel
A fast-paced and creative game that encourages kids to build words independently with the tiles they have. Great for flexible thinking and vocabulary growth!
🔵 Bananagrams Classic
Similar to Duel, but simpler—each tile has just one letter, which can make it more approachable for some learners.
🟠 Spelling Bee
I haven’t used this one yet, but it looks promising! I’m always on the lookout for new high-quality spelling tools.
